The 2024 Downtown Goldsboro Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Friday at the HUB in historic Downtown Goldsboro.
The Downtown Goldsboro staff and Board are excited to host this special event, which highlights the achievements Downtown Goldsboro has made over the past year and recognizes the individuals and groups that have helped turn
vision into reality.
During the Annual Dinner, the DGDC will honor twenty-eight groups or individuals who have been nominated for eleven award categories.
The nominees of each category are as follows:
Best Curb Appeal: Iron Tradition Tattoo at 206 E Walnut St, Lola’s Vintiques at 154 S Center St, and Picket Fence at 119 N Center St.
Best Promotional or Marketing Effort: Accucopy at 322 N John St, Elevated Aesthetics at 102 E Walnut St, and Three 65 Bar & Grill at 108 N Center St
Best New Business: Brick’s Woodfired Pizza Co at 146 S Center St, and The Borough at 115 E Walnut St.
Indicator of the Year (an optimistic economic indicator for future downtown growth): The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, led by the Housing Authority and the City of Goldsboro, as well as the Downtown Arts District effort, led by Joanna Ferrin and a sub-committee of community volunteers.
Best Design Improvement: 146 S Center St. (Brick’s Woodfired Pizza Co, Nick & Brittainy Ward), 136 N. Center St. (Kyle Merritt), and 224 N. Center St. (Amber & Jamie Long)
Outstanding Investor: Jeff Stewart & Natalie Davis for 223 N Center St., Rick Sumner for 119 N Center St. and Rob Phillips for 156 S Center St.
Most Valuable Supporter: Bekims Moving Solutions, Goldsboro Brew Works/The Filling Station and Paramount Theatre
Outstanding Business of the Year: Labrar at 141 N. Center St., RYE Always Fresh at 108 E Mulberry St, and RYE Always Fresh at 201 S Center St.
Thank You Award: Aly’s Garden Project Team for their transformation of the Waynesborough Parklet on S. Center St, John Bell for his ongoing support of our community, and Landscape Design for their consistent support through manpower and funding to help numerous downtown projects succeed.
Other awards include the Tommy King Service Award, Board Member of the Year, and Downtown Sustainer. All winners will be announced during Friday’s event.
The Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony, sponsored by Worrell Contracting, UNC Health Wayne, and Landscape Design is an annual, ticketed event.
Catering by The Borough, event support from The Firehouse, entertainment provided by Kevin Gardner, and a live painting available for auction by Yessica Salazar Garay, photography by Casey Mozingo of Big Blue Couch Media, and flowers by Green Thumb Florist.
