Thelma Edwards Jones, 70, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Wayne UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro surrounded by her family. Thelma was born in Wayne County to Mary Rose Frazier Edwards of Goldsboro and the late Jacob Edwards on May 5, 1954. She worked as a receptionist at Wayne Memorial Hospital for over 20 years.

Holding a strong faith in her Lord, Thelma lived her faith openly, most notably in her generosity toward others. She was a strong supporter in the ministry of Cry Freedom in Downtown Goldsboro. Good-hearted to a fault, she would help anyone in need with no questions asked or judgment given.

For Thelma, family was her everything. She maintained strong bonds with all her family. Her children were dear to her heart, and there was no greater love than that she shared with her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Thelma’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. John Howard officiating. A private interment will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Thelma is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Jones; daughters, Nicole Pate Trentham of Goldsboro and Kimberly Pate of New Bern; grandchildren, Kennedy Foster, Camille Foster, and Caden Williams; sisters, Gail Rogers of Seven Springs and April Smith and husband, Corey of LaGrange. She is also survived by her bonus son, Robbie Jones, and wife, Kayla, and their daughter, Sadie Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
