Grover Charles Medlin, 70, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born in Wayne County to the late Grover and Ruby Medlin on August 8, 1954. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susie Medlin, and brother, Hubert Medlin.
Charles was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life, he lived to work. He served as a truck driver for over 47 years with National Welders, now known as Air Gas. Charles was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, and who took great pride in caring and providing for them.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and never took himself too seriously. Charles was a good friend, a great daddy, and granddaddy, and had a generous heart. He provided a wonderful home for his family and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike.
Charles lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community. He served his community in many ways as a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge #340 F. & A.M. and the Goldsboro Elks Lodge #139. Charles was always touched by the work of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and for over 40 years he proudly supported their cause.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Charles’ life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Charles is survived by his high school sweetheart of 53 years, Paulette Corbett Medlin; children, Michelle Barnes and husband, Mike, Joy Glover and husband, Brian, and Chuck Medlin and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Bradley Glover, Taylor Glover, Austin Barnes and wife, Taylor, and Daniel Barnes; great-granddaughter, Daniella Grace Barnes; as well as a step-grandchild, Matthew Lutze; and an additional “grandchild”, Savannah Price. He is also survived by his sisters, Patsy Howard and Betsy White, and husband, Wayne; brother, Gilbert Medlin and wife, Billie; brother-in-law, Frankie Corbett and wife, Charlette; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.
