October 11, 2024, 95, LaGrange —
It is with the greatest sadness we announce the passing of Jayne Snipes Parker on October 11, 2024, at the age of 95. Jayne was born on March 29, 1929 in LaGrange, NC to John William and Leaurah Tew Grant. Jayne loved living in Goldsboro for over 80 years but had been a resident at Waltonwood in Cary North Carolina since 2021.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harvey Grant Snipes, Wylie Fort Parker, and James Harold Webber; brother, “Honorary” Hollywood Mayor Johnny Grant of Hollywood, CA; sisters, Dorothy Grant Price of Johnson City, TN; Laura Tew Grant Stevenson of Jacksonville, NC, and a dear companion, Ruben Leo Daughtry of Goldsboro, NC.
Jayne is survived by her daughters, Linda Snipes Beard and son-in-Law, Jon Clindennin Beard of Cameron, NC and Elizabeth (Betsy) Snipes Joyner of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons, Jon Clindennin Beard, Jr. and wife, Deanna Ashcraft Beard of Holly Ridge, NC and Justin Snipes Beard and wife, Kimberly Strikol Beard of Holly Springs, NC; granddaughters, Rachel Elizabeth Joyner of Raleigh, NC and Laura Allison Joyner Miller and husband, Ryan Archibald Miller of New Castle, OK; great grandchildren, Grant Taylor Beard, Walter Dallas Beard, Caroline Elise Hinkle, and Lorelei Elise Miller; sister, Peggy Grant Adams of Indianapolis, IN; and several special nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Jayne was a faithful member of Daniels Memorial Methodist Church where she used her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. She later enjoyed worshiping with the congregation at New Hope Friends Church. Jayne was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as an officer in the American Business Women’s Association. Jayne and her husband, Harvey, owned and operated Central Service Motor Company (Lincoln Mercury & MG automobile dealerships) in Goldsboro for 40 years.
Jayne had a sweet outgoing personality with a great compassion for others. She had a strong will with an unwavering determination to love and support her family and community. Jayne was always dressed to the nines and was a gorgeous lady inside and out. She was a role model for everyone and was loved by all who knew her. Jayne firmly believed in a well-kept yard and home. She maintained each with perfection. Under her care, her home was always immaculate and as a master gardener her flowers seemed to always be in full bloom.
Jayne was meticulous in all she did. She took great pride in making sure if something was going to be done, it would be done right. This was a gift to her family, her church and the community. She loved the community she was a part of and always sought to give her best.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Waltonwood and the Homewatch Caregivers Team. Special gratitude to her wonderful and caring physician, Dr. Charles S. Wehbie, and his nurse, Kimmee. Love and heartfelt thanks are also expressed to her caregivers and friends, Timeka Carelock and Monica Searles.
