On Saturday at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to UNC Health Wayne for a gunshot victim who arrived by private vehicle.

On arrival, officers found Anthony Ray Capps Jr., 39, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. 

The friend who drove Capps to the hospital told officers that the shooting happened in the area of Sixth Street and Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro.

Capps was transferred to ECU Medical Center for further treatment. He was listed in critical condition. 

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
