Wayne County Voters Make Their Voices Heard

Wayne County voters made their voices heard through early voting and votes cast on Tuesday.

Wayne County Commissioner Barbara Aycock, from District 1, ran uncontested, while fellow current Commissioner Wayne Aycock ran uncontested for the at-large position.

Antonio Williams retained his seat as the District 2 representative by receiving 67.35% of the vote, while Steve Wiggins received 32.65% of the votes.

Current Wayne County District 3 Commissioner Bevan Foster, ran uncontested, as did Chris Gurley (District 5), and Joe Daughtery (District 6).

Tim Harrell was victorious while running unopposed in District 7.

House Majority Leader John Bell captured the North Carolina House of Representatives District 10 race by receiving 56.8% of the vote, while Beatrice Jones earned 43.1% percent of the vote.

Republican Buck Newton defeated Raymond Smith Jr. in the N.C. Senate District 4 race. Newton received 55% of the vote while Smith gained 44.9% of the vote.

Republican Jimmy Dixon defeated Vernon Moore for the N.C. House of Representatives District 004 race. Dixon collected 58.5% of the vote and Moore finished with 41.4%.

Billy Strickland prevailed in the race for the North Carolina Superior Court District 9B Seat 01 race. Strickland received 53.6% of the vote while Ericka James earned 46.3% of the vote.

Jon Sargeant (District 9, Seat 2), Curtis Stackhouse (District 9, Seat 3), Chris Rogerson (District 9, Seat 4) Justin Lee Minshew (District 9, Seat 5), and Annette W. Turik (District 9, Seat 6) all ran unopposed.

Tina Ardner was elected as the Wayne County Register of Deeds after receiving 58.1% of the vote, while Constance Coram collected 41.9%

Tommy Sanders was victorious in the race for the Wayne County Board of Education at-large position. Sanders received 51.2% of the vote, while Kathy Meyer Larson earned 46%.

Len Henderson ran unopposed for the Wayne County Board of Education District 2 position.

Bridgette Cowan prevailed in the Wayne County Board of Education District 3 position while capturing 61.4% of the vote. Richard Taylor finished with 35.6%.

According to the Wayne County Board of Elections, 70.77% (54,486 of 76,985) of registered voters in Wayne County voted.
