Due to the threat of heavy rain, the fifth annual Field of Honor closing ceremony scheduled for Thursday afternoon on the lawn of Wayne Community College has been canceled.
Flags on display have been dedicated to show support and honor to active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and neighbors, in a tangible and visible way.
Proceeds from the Field of Honor raise funds to support the charitable programs of Rotary International and the Goldsboro Club.
The display will be broken down on Saturday.
The weeks following Thanksgiving (December 2 -14), those who requested that their flags be returned to them can pick them up at the front desk of the Wayne County Public Library on East Ash Street in Goldsboro.
All flags not picked up after December 14 will be donated to the Tuscarora Council of the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal.
