Julius Elbert Terry, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Wilson Pines in Wilson. Elbert was born in Halifax County to the late Aubrey Terry and Virginia Acree Barrow on July 14, 1944.
Elbert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his patriotism and his love for his family. He was a graduate of Faith School of Theology.
Elbert retired from the United States Postal Service with 36 years of service. As a valued employee, he was recognized with the 30 years of safe driving award, 35 year service award, and was the one year error-free delivery campaign winner.
Elbert’s life was focused on family, friends, and work. He greatly enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Elbert was a content man.
A service to celebrate Elbert’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, Goldsboro, with military honors. Rev. Bill Cotton will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Elbert is survived by his children, Sheila Terry-Horan and Stephen R. Terry and wife, Vanise; and his grandchildren, Owen, Ian, Olivia and Asher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Elbert’s memory to the Veterans Residential Services of Wilson, 2500 Nash Street, Suite B, Wilson, NC 27896.
