The SECU “Bridge to Career” Program awarded scholarships for $500 each to 18 students enrolled in short-term training through WCC’s Workforce Continuing Education division.

The SECU “Bridge to Career” Program helps remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education division. The program has supported community college workforce development and continuing education students across North Carolina since 2018.

Additionally, two full-time curriculum students received “People Helping People” Scholarships from the SECU Foundation valued at $5,000 each, to be used across four consecutive semesters.

Ki’Mya Easley and Lauren Twiddy, both from Goldsboro and enrolled in the Associate in General Education – Nursing program, are the recipients of this scholarship.

Two “People Helping People” scholarships are awarded annually to each of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina through the SECU Foundation scholarship program. Students are selected based on scholastic achievement, community involvement, and the demonstration of leadership, the pursuit of excellence, and integrity.

“College scholarships, such as those generously funded by the NC State Employees’ Credit Union, not only provide financial support but also pave the way for personal and academic growth, instilling a sense of hope and motivation in the recipients,” said WCC Director of Financial Aid and Veteran Services Katrina Lee.
