November 19, 2024, 84, Kenly —

William “Toot” Janell Hill, 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born on November 27, 1939, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Wilbert Hill and Mayzell Boykin Hill.

Toot was full of life. He loved fishing, racing, the beach, boating, and his last pet companion “Bud”. He was known by all for his joking and playful ways. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

William is survived by his loving wife, Martha Porter Hill; daughters, Joy Hill Copeland and Jill Hill Wall; sons, Jeffrey Hill and William Hill, Jr.; his sisters, Karen Taylor, Elizabeth Boyette, Sandra Phillips, Linda White, Debra Walston, and Sharon Turnage; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Imogene Murphy and Marvelen Carico.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will conclude at the Boykin Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health, 426 Hospital Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577.
