Kelsee Elizabeth Ayers

November 20, 2024, 20, Goldsboro —

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kelsee Elizabeth Ayers, who left us on November 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kelsee was born on March 27, 2004, the beloved daughter of Angela Ayers and Billy Ayers. She was a kind, brave, and faithful young woman whose warmth, kindness, and spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Throughout her life, Kelsee exhibited unwavering strength and resilience, facing her illness with grace and bravery. Despite her challenges, she maintained her sense of humor, her caring nature, and her love of life, family, and God. Kelsee had an ability to make others feel loved and appreciated. She was a gift to all who knew her.

Tough and resilient, she refused to let illness define her, instead channeling her energy into creating beauty through her art. Her stunning paintings and intricate drawings were a reflection of her soul—vibrant, expressive, and full of life.

Though her time was far too short, Kelsee made an incredible mark on the hearts of everyone who knew her. She left behind her mom, Angela Ayers (Billy Nance), siblings Tyson and Shane Ayers, father, Billy Ayers, paternal aunts, Kristie King and Barbara Ayers, paternal brother, Michael Holland, grandfather Felix Gurley, and wife Gloria, aunt, Heather Perkins, and family, step-siblings, Richie Kirby, Scarlet Medlin and special great-aunt Debbie Outland, Ricky Mozingo, step-grandfather. Her dogs Roscoe and Biscuit, her cat Gracie, as well as many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly. A special thank goes out to the staff of Kitty Askins who cared for Kelsee so lovingly this past week!

A memorial service to honor Kelsee’s life will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 6 p.m., with visitation from 4-6 pm. To honor Kelsee’s life, the family encourages you to dress casually and to wear something that is either purple (which stands for epilepsy) or gray (which stands for brain tumor). Burial will be Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Pikeville Cemetery.

Kelsee was preceded in Heaven by her maternal grandmother, Sandra Mozingo (Grammy), her maternal Uncle Zach Gurley, Maternal Great Grandparents Ellis Outland (Ping Pong) and Frances Outland (Mimi), and her Maternal Great Grandparents Leamon Gurley (Papa) and Ruth Gurley (Grandma).

Kelsee will be remembered for her boundless love, her courage in the face of adversity, and the light she brought into the world. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

Rest in peace, sweet Kelsee. Your light will continue to shine through the beauty you left in this world and in our hearts. This is not goodbye, it is see you later.
