Roy Howard Black, 82, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at WakeMed in Raleigh. Born in Abilene, Texas on January 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Howard Raymond Black, Jr. and Juanita Hutchings Bell.

Roy is survived by his son, Robert Black; daughter, Melody Black; grandson, Levi Black and wife, Kelly; great-granddaughter, Adeline Black; siblings, Gene Bell, Bill Bell, and Melody Black Thorp; and his beloved canine companion, Lucky.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for many years with the City of Homestead, Florida as a heavy equipment operator.

Roy will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He took great pride in taking care of his family and friends.

A service to celebrate Roy’s life will be held at a later date in Florida.
