City to Host Two Public Meetings Regarding Lead and Copper Inventory

The City of Goldsboro will hold two public meetings to share information about the recently completed Lead and Copper Inventory.

The meetings will take place at the Goldsboro Event Center on:

  • Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The city completed an inventory of water service lines to check for lead pipes, as the Environmental Protection Agency required. No lead service lines were found.

As part of the EPA requirement, notices were mailed to water customers whose service lines are either made of galvanized material or whose material composition is unknown.

Service lines made of galvanized material will need to be replaced (though the EPA has set no specific timeline), and service lines with unknown material composition will need to be identified.

City staff from Engineering, Public Utilities, and Public Works will be available at the meetings to provide details and answer questions
