The Wayne County Animal Shelter is spreading holiday cheer with a special adoption event, waiving all adoption fees for dogs and cats at the shelter.
This offer lasts through Dec. 31, giving residents the perfect opportunity to bring home a new furry family member for Christmas.
Residents are encouraged to view available pets online before visiting the shelter by visiting waynegov.com/pets.
The website is updated regularly and provides photos and details about each animal, helping potential adopters find a match ahead of time.
The shelter is open during the following hours:
- Monday through Friday: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Walk-ins close at 4:00 p.m.)
- Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Walk-ins close at 12:00 p.m.)
“We’ve got a lot of great animals waiting for a home, and we hope this event makes it easier for folks to adopt,” said Graham Price, Animal Control Director. “If you’re thinking about getting a pet, come visit us. You might find your new best friend.”
All animals adopted from the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home.
If a pet is not yet spayed or neutered at the time of adoption, the shelter will hold the animal until the procedure can be completed. The promotion still applies in these cases.
Celebrate the season of giving by adopting a furry friend and making this holiday unforgettable for your family and a shelter pet.
