Significant Damage Done, One Injured in Sunday Night Fire

On Sunday, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Goldsboro Fire Department units were dispatched to a structure fire at 2003 Peachtree St., Apt. B.

Engines 2, 3, 4, Tower 1, and the Battalion Chief were dispatched, and Engine 1 was quickly added to the call. Sixteen personnel responded to the call.

When Engine 2 arrived on scene at 6:19 p.m., they reported a working structure fire with fire showing on the second floor and through the roof of a two-story multi-family dwelling.

Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack on the second floor and brought the fire under control quickly. Units remained on scene until 10:27 p.m.

Estimates of damage to the $573,000 structure are $100,000.

One minor injury was reported to a Goldsboro Firefighter.

Goldsboro Fire Department’s Fire Marshal assisted with investigation of the cause and origin of the fire.

At this time, the fire is listed as accidental, and it was possibly caused by an electronic device.
