Alma Irene Martin, 89, of Goldsboro, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Brookdale Country Day Road surrounded by her loving family.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Martin was born in Wayne County on July 4, 1935. She was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Pam Minshew (Kenny) of Princeton; her brother, Brent Godwin (Phyllis) of Princeton; her sisters, Pat Hatem (Jr.) of Goldsboro, LaRose Jackson (Billy) of Grantham and Debbie Moore (Craig) of Princeton; her grandchildren, Justin Minshew (Amanda) and Gentry Minshew (Jessica); her great-grandchildren, Landon, Annalee, Gavin and Ranzy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her father, William Herbert Blackman; her mother, Irene Godwin and stepfather, George Godwin, who raised her after the death of her father and her husband, Roger Dail Martin.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Brookdale Country Day Road, 3HC and Gentiva Hospice, and many others for their love and care given.
Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be directed to Westwood United Methodist Church or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
