Elizabeth Solomon Hatcher, 97, passed away peacefully at Goldsboro Assisted Living on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. Born in Person County on April 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Thomas Solomon and Nannie Mckee Solomon.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hatcher; grandson, Joseph Hatcher; brothers, Elbert Solomon, and Harvey Solomon; and sister, Getsy Day.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Timothy Hatcher and wife, Shirley, and Anthony Hatcher and wife, Karen; granddaughter, Christy Carter and husband, Aaron; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe Solomon and wife, Reid, and Ben Solomon; and sister, Diane Dean. Elizabeth is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

A woman of many talents, Elizabeth had a deep love for crafts. Whether it was needlepoint, cross-stitch, or altering dresses, she found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. Her passion for sewing was only rivaled by her love for her family, and she often shared her handmade creations with those she held dear.

As a proud military spouse, Elizabeth embraced the adventure of travel and cherished the time spent abroad when her husband, Earl, was stationed in France. Those years were filled with memories of exploring new places, making lifelong friends, and growing closer as a family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.

A graveside service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor John Howard presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be sent to a charity of your choice in memory of Elizabeth.
