The Goldsboro Police Department is seeking information from the community regarding a shooting on Saturday night that resulted in the death of a Goldsboro man.
On Saturday, at approximately 10:19 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of E. Walnut Street for an unknown disturbance.
The caller did not provide details.
A short time later, officers received an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system in the same area.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a black male, Larry Maurice Saunders Jr., 31, lying in the backyard of the residence, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Wayne County EMS pronounced Saunders Jr. deceased at approximately 10:48 p.m.
They are asking that anyone who attended the gathering where this incident took place, please contact the Investigative Services Bureau by calling (919) 705-6572 and ask to speak with a Goldsboro Police Department Investigator.
Additionally, anyone with any information that would assist the investigation is asked to contact an Investigator using the same process.
