Charles Wesley James, 77, was received into the presence of his Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Charles was born in Wayne County, North Carolina to the late Maury and Eula James on February 1, 1947. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mable Bowden, Dorothy Linton, Jenkins James, and Malcolm James.
Charles was a very smart and hardworking man who made a living in construction for over 50 years. He had worked for many years with Dupont and was also instrumental in building the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. Charles was a strong supporter of the National Rifle Association.
Charles’ life was centered on his family and faith. He was a member of Rosewood Worship Center where he served as a deacon. Charles was always present to worship amongst those of faith.
Always as his first priority, Charles deeply loved and provided for his family. Pam was his soulmate and bride of 44 years. His children were his pride, and his grandchildren were his joy.
When retirement came for Charles, time with his family always took precedence. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lit up his world, and his most prized title was PaPa.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Charles’ life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. David Fields officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Charles is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pam James; children, Portia James Brower (Benjamin), Laura Crumpler, Timothy Marshall (Asheley), Katrina Sawyer (Mike), Leigh Ann Oliver, John Oliver (Tasmin); two grandchildren he raised as his own, Hannah Wiseman (Tyler) and Ethan Oliver (Grace); seventeen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
