Cheryl Denise Watson

December 20, 2024, 64, Goldsboro —

Cheryl Denise Watson, 64, peacefully departed this life for life eternal on Friday evening, December 20, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family. Cheryl was born in Wayne County, North Carolina to the late Delwin Pete Engles and Mary Louise McMillan Cunningham on October 5, 1960. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Daughtry.

Early on in life, Cheryl utilized her eye for beauty and detail as a floral designer with Van Roekel Florist in Goldsboro. After some time, she left to work for the state of North Carolina at Cherry Hospital for an eight-year stint. Returning to the world of floral design, she joined the team at Casey’s Florist in Princeton. In 2004, she ventured into entrepreneurship, owning her own company, Cheryl’s Floral Designs. Specializing in weddings, her talent was featured at many beautifully decorated wedding venues that she created for the brides. Cheryl’s floral designs were always a reflection of her life and personality: beautiful, bright, and beyond compare.

Always happy and cheerful, Cheryl could brighten any room with her friendly demeanor. She truly loved people, with none more precious to her than her family. Always one to put the needs of others before her own, she was always more concerned with the well-being of her family than keeping a focus on herself.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at The First Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro. A service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jack Watson; son, Joseph Aromando and wife, Lauren; step-father, Jim Cunningham; sisters, Lori Weaver, Karen Cooper, and Regina Harmon; brother, Mike Engles; and many nieces and nephews she loved very much.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to The First Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534; Cry Freedom Missions, P.O. Box 1235, Goldsboro, NC 27533; or to the International Training and Equipping Ministry, 7325 NE Imbrie Drive #265, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
