December 20, 2024, 87, Smithfield —

Ella Catherine Tripp Kelchner, 87, passed away at UNC Johnston Health on, Friday, December 20, 2024.  Cat was born in Pitt County on August 2, 1937, to the late Russell Linwood Tripp, Sr. and Lela Elizabeth Jones Tripp Williams.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Ann Kelchner.

She is survived by a niece, Helen Tripp of Smithfield, and a nephew, William Linwood Tripp of Tarboro.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Unity FWB Church in Smithfield from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.  The Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 28, 2024, also at Unity FWB Church, 104 W. Langdon Ave., Smithfield with Pastor Harold Brown and Reverend Eddie Riddick officiating.
