Jean Casey Becton, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Liberty Commons in Wilmington. Jean was born in Lenoir County on March 18, 193,4, and was the daughter of the late Luby Rudolph Casey and Florence Martin Casey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison C. Becton; grandson, Tyler Casey Daniels; and siblings, J. Frank Casey and wife, Marjorie, Martin Casey and wife, Rose, Elizabeth Askew and husband, Ben, Harvey Britt and wife, Julia, and Edward Britt.
Jean’s love of gardening was complemented well with her green thumb. Anything she wanted to grow seemed to grow in abundance and was always beautiful.
For Jean, she was absolutely content staying at home as long as she had family close by. Always welcoming those who came to visit, she believed any time with family was time well spent.
With a great love for her Lord, Jean was a constant presence in her congregation at Pine Forest Methodist Church. Participating in ministry there for as long as she was able, she was invested in spreading the love of God to all she met.
A service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Pine Forest Methodist Church followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
Jean is survived by her children, Patricia Daniels and husband, Danny, Elizabeth Becton and Ray Becton and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Amanda Daniels Little and husband, Seth and Nicklas Becton and wife, Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Christian Little, Faith Little and Ashton Becton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jean’s memory to Pine Forest Methodist Church, Hwy. 581 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
