Wayne County Seeks Volunteers for Extension Master Gardener Program

Wayne County Seeks Volunteers for Extension Master Gardener Program

Wayne County, NC – Do you have a passion for gardening and a desire to share your knowledge with others? The Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office is now accepting applications for the Extension Master Gardener℠ program, offering an exciting opportunity to become a volunteer with N.C. Cooperative Extension.

The Extension Master Gardener program invites individuals who are interested in gardening to assist their local Extension office in providing research-based, unbiased information to gardeners of all ages. Volunteers will help guide homeowners in making practical decisions about home lawns, landscapes, and gardens.

While prior gardening experience is not required, applicants should have a commitment to volunteering, an interest in learning more about gardening, and the availability to volunteer on weekdays. Once accepted into the program, volunteers must complete a 40-hour training course, followed by 40 hours of volunteer service to earn the title of Extension Master Gardener volunteer in Wayne County. To maintain this title, volunteers must complete 25 hours of service and 10 hours of continuing education each year.

If you would like to learn more, join us on Wednesday, January 8th at 10 a.m. for a “Meet & Greet” to learn more about the Wayne County Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program and meet other Extension Master Gardeners. This informational session will be held at the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Office.

This is a great opportunity for those looking to contribute to their community while gaining valuable gardening knowledge and experience.
