Frances Carter Tyndall passed on to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at the age of 96, in Peachtree City, GA, at the home of her daughter.  Frances moved to Peachtree City in 2016, from Goldsboro, NC, where she had lived for 50 years.

Frances was born September 17,1928, in Asheboro, NC, to Charles Worth Carter and Lena May Betts Carter.  She was preceded to the Lord by her parents; her husband, Clarence Odell Tyndall; her son, Clarence “Carl” Carter Tyndall; her brothers: James Worth Carter, Carlisle A Carter, and Robert D Carter.  She is survived by her children: Rebecca A Tyndall of Goldsboro, NC; Kenneth R Tyndall(Kim) of Wake Forest, NC; Karen T Parsons(Robert) of Peachtree City, GA; and daughter-in-law, Beth J Tyndall, of Saluda, NC.  She was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Patricia T Flagler(Matt) of Charleston, SC; Valerie T Goldston of Saluda, NC; Laura K Tyndall of Charleston, SC; Brittany T Kidd(Justin) of Swannanoa, NC; James M Tyndall(Bailey) of Wake Forest, NC; Julianne P Posey(Matt) of Peachtree City, GA; and Jeannene P Pacheco(Gus) of Durham, NC. Frances was abundantly blessed with 12 great-grandchildren; Charlotte and Lilly Tyndall, Sadie, Sawyer, and Lylah Goldston, Tyndall and Hudson Flagler, Ethan and Winona Posey, Judson and Oliver Pacheco, and Bralyn Kidd; as well as many nieces and nephews.

During her youth, Frances’  family moved from Asheboro to Rocky Mount and then Stedman, NC.  She graduated from Stedman High School, and attended Campbell College for two years before transferring to and graduating from Wake Forest College (University) in Wake Forest.   She continued her education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, TX, where she completed her Masters of Divinity in 1952.  She returned to NC and began her teaching career which would span 29 years.

Frances met her husband, Odell, in 1953, and they married in 1954. She worked while he attended Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  His career with NC Vocational Rehabilitation took them to Greensboro, Morganton, and Goldsboro, where they lived for decades.  Frances taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Goldsboro for more than 20 years.  She taught high school English at Cherry Hospital and Goldsboro High School.  She assisted Odell in many of his community services with her secretarial and editing skills, including the Optimist Club and New Life Center. 

Frances’ life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 11:00, at the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel. Her grandson-in-law, Rev. Gus Pacheco will officiate. The family will receive guests from 10:00 to 10:45  prior to the celebration of life. Internment will follow immediately after the ceremony at Wayne Memorial Park.
