Eastern Wayne Middle School will be closed on Tuesday due to a mechanical issue with the heating system.

Ken Derksen, Executive Director for Community Engagement and Student & Family Support for Wayne County Public Schools sent the following statement in an email on Monday afternoon, “This message is for Eastern Wayne Middle families. We want to inform you that Eastern Wayne Middle will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, due to a mechanical issue with the heating system impacting much of our main building. The health and safety of our students are paramount, and cooler temperatures forecast overnight are expected to greatly reduce interior temperatures of any classrooms without heat. The district Maintenance Department is working to repair the unit and hopes to have the main building heating properly by the end of the day tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience that this causes. We look forward to seeing all of our students back in class on Wednesday.”
