United Way to Host Annual Fill the Theatre Event

United Way to Host Annual Fill the Theatre Event

The United Way of Wayne County is hosting its annual Fill the Theatre Food Drive at Paramount Theatre from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5-6.

Fill the Theatre helps to address food insecurity, a critical issue affecting the community. The ongoing challenges of inflated costs for food and shelter continue to drive the need for food assistance.

Established food pantries and small nonprofits providing food packages work tirelessly to meet the growing demand.

“Inflation continues to impact Wayne County residents, leaving many households struggling to make ends meet,” said Sherry Archibald, United Way of Wayne County Executive Director. “This event is an opportunity to help local pantries restock their supplies after the holidays and provide critical support to those in need,”

Individuals, businesses, and civic groups are encouraged to bring donations to Paramount Theatre during the two-day event.

For those who wish to donate before the event, items can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Crawford Henderson Insurance – through Feb. 4 (Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, 9a.m -1 p.m.)
  • Goldsboro Builders Supply – Jan. 22 – Feb. 6 (Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.)
  • NC Community Credit Union – through Feb. 4th (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. -5 p.m.)
  • TA Loving – Jan. 6-31 (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
  • Wayne County Courthouse atrium – through Feb. 5 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. -5 p.m.)

United Way of Wayne County aims to fill all 500 seats of the Paramount Theatre with donations.

Donors can pledge their support by reserving seats to fill and may reserve one or more seats in the name of their business, organization, or group. This year, monetary donations will be accepted.

Requested items include non-perishable canned goods, paper products, toiletries, and baby items such as diapers and formula.

A full list of needed items and drop-off locations, including days and times, is available on the agency’s website: unitedwayne.org/fillthetheatre.

Volunteers are also needed to help receive donations during the two-day event. Interested individuals can register to volunteer through the website or contact Pilar Parks at (919) 735-3591 or via email at [email protected].
