James Richard Dills, age 76, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 7th at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in High Point, NC to the late Elmer James Dills and Thelma Lee Estep Dills and was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Pittman. James was a long-time member of Mays Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club and the Mount Olive Masonic Lodge, #208. James was the owner and operator of James Dills Electric for over 25 years. Along with his wife, Barbara, they chaperoned many, many young people on school trips over the years.
A service to celebrate James’ life will be held on Wednesday, January 15th at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Daughtry and Rev. Tim Heath officiating. Committal with both military and Masonic honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 14th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
James is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Barbara Dills; his children, Rick Dills and wife, Payton, Heather Lilly and husband, Steve and Wesley Dills and husband, Adam Lloyd; his grandchildren, Andrew Flora, Jordan Flora, Gracelyn Lilly, Colton Lilly, William Dills and Kayleigh Dills; his brothers, Ron Dills and wife, Jan and Don Dills and wife, Teresa; and his special canine companion, Sassy Dills; and his German family.
