Mr. Jimmy Gray Outlaw, 84, lifelong resident of the Dudley area, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, January 3, 2025, at his home.

Mr. Outlaw had attended Edwards Military Institute (EMI) in Salemburg where he played collegiate baseball.  He had served in the U. S. Army Reserves for a nine year term.  He briefly worked at the Research Station at N. C. State University, had worked at a tractor and farm implement dealership, had served with the U. S. Postal Service, but his main occupation was that of farming and of mowing lawns for others.  He was a lifelong member of May’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in which he had been a deacon and secretary, amongst other duties to which he was so willingly devoted.

The Outlaw family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, beginning at 12:30 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Daughtry.  Mr. Outlaw will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park beside his beloved wife, Virginia.

Loved ones who survive Mr. Outlaw include his daughter, Tammy Outlaw Hayes and husband, Keith, of Dudley; a son, Gray Outlaw and wife, Shonda, of Dudley; his grandchildren, Jackson Hayes and wife, Courtney, Kelsey Hayes Ragavage and husband, Shane, Marshall Outlaw, Mary Grayce Outlaw, and Brittney White and husband Lance; his great-grandchildren, Gunner, Sadie, Marleigh, Rylee, and Jaxon Hayes, Brooklyn and Chloe Ragavage, Olivia and Charlie Massey, and Riley and Lance Paul White;  a dear friend and lady companion, Sarah Lynch, of the Indian Springs community; a sister and brother-in-law, Edythe O. and Arnold Blanton, of Dudley; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Nancy Outlaw, of Dudley; a dear aunt, Ruth Outlaw, of Kenansville; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha J. and Roger Davis of Calypso.  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jackson Outlaw, and his parents, Roy J. and Nellie Gray Outlaw.
