Durwood Ray Grimes, 77, of Stantonsburg passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at his home.

No formal service will be held.

Mr. Grimes was born in Wayne County on July 7, 1947 to the late John William “Bill” and Mary Jane “Janie” Grimes.

He is survived by his daughter, Lorrie Thomas; his brother, Ralph Grimes; his granddaughter, Jessica Thomas and three great-granddaughters, Jayla, Londyn and Paris Snead.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Grimes; his brothers, Dee Grimes, Willie Grimes and Donald Grimes and his sisters, Eleanor Collier and Mary Worthington.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
