Andrew Grove Boyd

January 14, 2025, 86, Seven Springs —

Andrew Grove Boyd, 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sedgwick County Kansas, he was son to the late Andrew Warren Boyd and Margaret Grove Boyd.

Andrew was a man whose heart soared as high as the planes he adored. From a young age, he was captivated by all things aviation, spending countless hours studying aircraft, attending airshows, and dreaming of the skies. His passion for flying wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way of life that inspired him to pursue a career in the aviation industry, where he thrived among fellow enthusiasts.

But Andrew’s interests didn’t stop at aviation. He found immense joy in working in his yard where his yard was used for family gatherings, where laughter and love flourished, and in his workshop working with his tools.

Family was the cornerstone of Andrew’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, whether it was a birthday celebration, a graduation, or a simple backyard barbecue. His home was always filled with warmth and joy, a testament to the strong bonds he nurtured with his family.

One of Andrew’s most remarkable achievements was building two houses with his own hands. With determination and skill, he took on the challenge of constructing homes that would shelter his family and create lasting memories. Each nail he hammered and every wall he raised was a labor of love, showcasing his dedication and craftsmanship.

Andrew’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven from his passions, family, and hard work. He inspired those around him to pursue their dreams and cherish the moments that truly matter. His legacy lives on in the skies he loved, the gardens he tended, and the hearts of those who knew him.

Andrew is survived by his wife Shirley Boyd, his son, Kelvin Raper and wife, Dana; his grandchildren, Matthew Raper and Kayla Barnes; his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Sloan Barnes; his brother, Richard Boyd; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and James Boyd.

A service to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Mustin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
