Traffic Stop in Pikeville Leads to Drug and Firearm Arrest

PIKEVILLE — On Jan. 19, officers with the Pikeville Police Department conducted a traffic stop for a tint violation.

During the stop, it was determined the driver, Jonathan Warrick Girard, Stantonsburg, had an outstanding warrant out of Wake County.

Additionally, a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and narcotics and a firearm were recovered.

Girard was arrested and transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office and given no bond.

Girard was charged with assault on a female, possession of a scheduled VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
