On Tuesday, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Day Circle for a call involving an individual who was trespassing and had previously threatened employees of the apartment complex.

During the encounter, the individual resisted arrest and was found to have a concealed weapon.

Officers took necessary actions to secure the individual and prevent further harm to themselves.

The individual, Talek Carter, 27, sustained an injury during the arrest and was treated and released at UNC Health Wayne.

Carter, 27, has been charged with second-degree trespassing, assault on a law enforcement officer, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, and damage to property.

The Goldsboro Police Department is conducting an internal investigation of the actions that occurred during the arrest.

The officer at the center of this incident will be placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation, as per the department’s standard protocol.
