Marlene “Tootsie” Hare Harrell Edwards

Marlene “Tootsie” Hare Harrell Edwards, age 92, went to meet her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 23rd at her residence. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Louis Russell Hare and Myrtle Elizabeth Holt Hare and was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Thompson and grandchildren, Doug Harrell and Lauren Harrell and a step grandchild, Ashley Sullivan. She was also preceded in death by a brother Russell Hare, Jr. Marlene was retired from the Wayne County Public Schools where she was the administrative assistant to the Superintendent and was a former member of the Wayne County Board of Education.

A service to celebrate Marlene’s life will be held on Monday, January 27th, at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her son, Jim Harrell.

Marlene is survived by her children, John Harrell and wife, Sheila, Jim Harrell and wife, Beverly, Jenny Hardee and husband, Glenn, Paul Harrell and wife, Marie, and Ann Barnes and friend, Ted Clayton. Her grandchildren, Daniel Harrell, David Harrell, Scott Harrell, Brayden Harrell, Caydence Harrell, Jena and Stephen Kivett, Jim Bish, Grace Harrell, Elsie Harrell, Laken Barnes, Thomas Barnes, Claire Barnes; a step grandchild, Haley Jacobs; a great grandchild, Corynn Kivett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
