On Monday at approximately 10:12 p.m., officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the area of the 600 block of Madison Avenue.
Officers responded to the area and located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot injuries.
The victim, Kevin Posey, 38, Goldsboro, was transported to UNC Health Wayne by EMS for further treatment.
Posey was then transported to ECU Medical Center and was listed in serious condition.
The Crime Scene Unit and Investigations were contacted and responded.
As a result of the investigation, a suspect was developed.
A warrant for an arrest was secured on Zajinque Dickens, 24, of Goldsboro.
On Feb. Tuesday, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Dickens was arrested without incident in the 800 block of N. Taylor Street by members of the Goldsboro Police Department.
Taylor was taken before a magistrate where he received no bond.
He was subsequently placed in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center.
Posey remains hospitalized in stable condition.
