Shelton Horsely Cotton, 90, affectionally known as Bobby, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Bobby was born in Goldsboro to late John and Flora Cotton on June 19, 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Arnie Smith; and sisters, Annie Ruth Cotton, Thelma Howell and Nellie Tyndall.
Bobby owned and operated Cotton Paint and Wallpaper in Goldsboro for many years. He will be remembered for always providing quality service to his clients.
Bobby was a member of New Life Baptist Church where he used his hands and abilities to share the love of God. When he could, Bobby always enjoyed the opportunity to go fishing for anything that was biting – especially a bass. However Bobby’s greatest love was for his family.
A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held by the graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Willow Dale Cemetery with Pastor Ron Varner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
