William Clifton “Bill” Albert, Jr.

January 27, 2025, 84, Goldsboro —

William Clifton “Bill” Albert, Jr., 84, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wheeling, West Virginia on October 1, 1940, he was the son of the late William Clifton Albert, Sr. and Lucille Neal Albert.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ann McGuire, Jane Lou Stafford, and Kerry Lynn Gibbs; and his faithful canine companion, Payne.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra Pariseau Albert; sons, William Clifton Albert, III and Scott Albert and wife Kristy; step-sons, Scott Griffin and Jeffrey Griffin; grandsons, William Albert and Davis Albert; and step-granddaughters, Ella Griffin, Brenna Griffin, Ava Griffin, and Anna Griffin.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for several years as an engineer with Hevi-Duty in Goldsboro.

Bill’s grandchildren were the joy of his life. Whenever he was around them or talking about them to his friends, he beamed with pride. When they were little, the grandchildren affectionately named him “Poppers.” That name stuck and he was known as “Poppers” to his grandchildren’s friends and their families.

Bill was an avid Duke Blue Devils Basketball fan. If Duke was playing, he was in front of a television watching. He never missed a game. Bill took great pleasure in watching his grandsons as they played baseball over the years, both now playing on the collegiate level.

Bill’s family will celebrate his life at a later date in a private setting.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Bill’s memory to Duke Children’s Hospital by visiting: https://giving.dukechildrens.org/ways-to-give/make-a-tribute

Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
