February 3, 2025, 57, Goldsboro —
John Edgar Kennedy, 57, from Goldsboro, NC, passed away peacefully on 2/3/25, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a true jack of all trades, with a special knack for carpentry—if you could dream it, he could build it! Even the most skilled craftsmen know the importance of slowing down occasionally to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, and John was no exception. He cherished quality time with his family, and loved settling in to watch a good Western or cheer on his favorite team, Go Chiefs!
His passion for the Chiefs began during his time living in Kansas, where he and his wife, Marie, embraced a new chapter of life. John worked as a farmhand on a dairy farm, a shift from his usual career, but he relished the experience, the breathtaking scenery, and the wonderful friends he made along the way.
John was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Kennedy, and his brother, Charles Robert Kennedy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie, and his daughters Ashley, Kaylee, Shannon, Vanessa, and Felicia, along with his sons Danny, David, and Kenny. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Asher, Mikayla, and DJ, as well as his mother, Judy Kennedy, his sisters, Angie and Sherry, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro with Pastor Pete Radford officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Service arrangements entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
