Dennis James Howard, 70, was born in Lenoir County to the late Kirby and Kathleen Barwick Howard. He worked as a commercial electrician all his life until he retired in 2011.

Dennis was better known as “Low” or “Lowrider”. He had a great love of the outdoors, racing, riding, and listening to good music. He could be found riding around town, sitting on his front porch, riding the golf cart with grandbabies, or hanging out in his nephew’s shop.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Vernon officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to service. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Dennis survived by his daughter, Jaimie Phelps husband, Taylor; grandchildren, Raelyn and Olivia Phelps of La Grange; brothers, William “Bib” Howard (Peggy) of La Grange, Cecil Howard (Pam) of Goldsboro, and Donald “Buzzy” Lutter; special nephews, William “Rat” Howard (Tammy) and Nick Stroud; niece, Loretta Sasser all of LaGrange; life-long best friends, Ronnie Jones and Baxter “Little Bac” Taylor; sisters-in-law, Alberta Howard and Sandra Herring (Gerald); along with many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa “Gail” Howard; sisters, Ann Wright, Edna Hinson, Helen Smith, and Gail Godwin; and brothers, Edward “Pete” Howard and Vernon Howard.
