February 11, 2025, 70, Mount Olive —

Gordon Lyle Sandford, better known as Gordie Sandford, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the place he called home for the last while, Brookdale on Country Day Road in Goldsboro.

Gordie, 70, was the son of the late Bob C. and Dorothy Price Sandford.  It was in Rockingham where he spent the younger part of his life.  He was employed as a crate assembly technician at White Poultry Co., and had worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken, and also at a local car wash.  The Pricetown community in Wayne County had always been Gordie’s second home, being that was the area in which his mother was born and raised.  He was a honorary member of Pricetown Volunteer Fire Department.

Gordie leaves behind a loving family to include an aunt, several cousins and their families.  He was dear to the hearts of his family and friends and he will be sorely missed.

A graveside service for Gordie will be Friday, February 14, at 11 a.m. at Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs, N.C.  Officiating will be the Rev. Doug Johnson.  Visitation with the family will take place at the cemetery beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
