February 9, 2025, 78, Goldsboro —
William “Bill” Fredrick Barton, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Boston on March 24, 1946, he was the son of the late George Barton and Arlene Waldron Barton.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jordan; brother, Jimmy Barton; and sister, Marlene LaFrance
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Connie Billado Barton; children, Lori Barton, Dawn McWane; Angelene Pearson and husband, Jermaine, Billie Noles and husband, Chad, and Stacy Callan and companion, Marcus Clausen; grandchildren, Matt (Marcia), Tiffani, Eric, Krystina (Kris), Kala (Michael), Ashley, Damian, Bubba (Alania), Cassie (Tanner), Devon, LJ, Blondie (Kyle), Bekkah, Tommy, Emma, Hunter, and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Semaj, Jade, Chris, Noah, Noa, Evelyn, Ellie, Knox, and Avery; and siblings, Bart Michaud and husband, Mitch, and Rick Barton and wife, Michelle.
Known to many as “The Tireman,” Bill spent many years working at Firestone, where he became a respected figure in his community and built lasting friendships. Outside of work, Bill found joy in the open road, whether it was through his love of motorcycles, feeling the wind in his face, or his passion for playing golf. Bill’s Sunday afternoons were spent with a cold Michelob Ultra in hand, watching his beloved New England Patriots and NASCAR races, always wishing for just one more lap with Dale Earnhardt on the track.
Bill’s love for life didn’t end there—he was an accomplished woodworker and a perfectionist in every sense of the word. His attention to detail and dedication to his craft was evident in everything he created and fixed.
But above all, Bill was a family man. His greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones, cherishing every moment shared during family get-togethers. Whether it was a quiet afternoon or a festive celebration, Bill’s love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by those he held most dear.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, love for life, and devotion to his family will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence.
Per Bill’s request, no formal services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741 in memory of Bill.
