ALBERTSON — The smell of barbecue filled the air in northern Duplin County on Saturday morning, and there was no shortage of traffic as hunters met at the Albertson Fire Department to enter their dogs in the 40th Annual Albertson Field Trials.
Officials said they had 642 dogs registered for the annual fox hunt, marking the highest number of dogs ever entered.
Albertson firefighters and volunteers spent overnight cooking and preparing for the day-long event that was held at the fire station.
Members of the Albertson Ruritan helped with the preparation of this year’s event.
