The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Central North Carolina, along with the Southern Coastal Plains and Sandhills.
The winter storm watch begins at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning and continues through 10 a.m. on Thursday.
A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected to begin on Wednesday morning before transitioning to freezing rain later in the day.
On Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service was calling for Wayne County to receive less than an inch of snow and sleet.
Other forecasts currently predict Wayne County will receive between one and four inches of snow and ice.
This storm could result in power outages and hazardous driving conditions.
