WCC to Hold Second Annual Middle School Choir Festival

Wayne Community College will host its second annual Honors Choir Festival for middle school students.

Around 100 students from eight schools in Wayne and surrounding counties have been selected by their music directors to participate in the festival on Feb. 27.

The students will spend the day rehearsing with the WCC choir and music faculty and will perform five songs in a mass choir performance.

The final concert will be held at 4 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium located inside the Wayne Learning Center.

It is free and open to the public to attend.

The concert will also feature performances by the WCC choir and middle school directors.

Jonathan Saeger, WCC lead music instructor, and choir director, said the festival gives middle school students the chance to participate in a large ensemble, communicate through music, and experience working with other singers.

“We try to make this a special day for all the participants,” said Saeger. “Hopefully, we will inspire them to continue on their musical path and become life-long musicians, whether they pursue music as a hobby or a career.”

WCC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities.
