Due to inclement weather, the City of Goldsboro and County of Wayne offices will remain closed on Friday.
The County of Wayne closures apply to all non-essential personnel.
This closure includes all branches of the Wayne County Public Library, Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center, Wayne County Animal Shelter, Wayne County Courthouse, and the Wayne County Landfill and convenience centers.
All library branches and the Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center will reopen for regular operating hours on Saturday.
The Wayne County Office of Emergency Services reminds residents to use caution if travel is necessary.
While some roads have seen improvement throughout the day, temperatures overnight will refreeze any water still on the roadways.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 10 a.m. on Friday, with lows around 16 degrees and wind chills as low as 10 degrees.
Remember to dress in layers and cover exposed skin to stay warm as temperatures drop.
Limit time outdoors to avoid hypothermia.
Protect your home by letting faucets drip to prevent pipes from freezing. Don’t forget to bring pets indoors and ensure they have a warm, safe place to stay.
