Carolyn Faye Walters Hobbs, 77, passed away on February 15, 2025 at UNC Lenoir Hospital. Carolyn was born to Adlai Carroll and Oma Faye Walters on August 29, 1947. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Alphonso Walters.

Working as a bookkeeper for her entire career, Carolyn started employment with Kinston Refrigeration, followed by a stint at Smith Furniture on Herritage Street in Kinston. She completed her working years at North Lenoir High School.

Meeting her future husband, Jimmy, at the skating rink in Kinston, the two courted for nearly a year before they made marriage vows that carried them through an amazing 59-year marriage. Raising their children in a loving and Christian home, Carolyn’s dedication to family was ever evident. As a family, they enjoyed many excursions from camping to cruising and especially loved their time at the beach. For Carolyn, any time with family was simply the best.

Actively involved in the ministries of Community Baptist Church, Carolyn was deeply devoted to her Lord and His love for her was exemplified through her deeds for others. She was a truly caring person that put the needs of others before her own.

Incredibly skilled in crafting, Carolyn was sought after for her many beautiful pieces of art. She could make something beautiful out of nearly nothing, always seeing the possibilities before her. Through crafting and her membership in the La Grange Garden Club, she formed many cherished friendships.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastors Dean Hightower and Jeremy Varner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Lee Hobbs; children, Jimmy Lee Hobbs, Jr., Karen Hobbs Rouse and husband, Steve, and Michael Edward Hobbs and wife, Laurie Atkins; grandchildren, Collin Lee Hobbs, Trent Thigpen and wife, Brooke, Jake Rouse, Mackenzie Rouse Thompson and husband, Logan, Jasper Hobbs, and Jonah Hobbs.
