Charles Walter McLain, 84, was welcomed to life eternal on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Born on December 11, 1940 in White County, Indiana, he was son to the late Charles McLain and Myrtle Faye Snavley McLain.
Charles graduated from Monon High School in 1958, and while serving four years in the U.S. Air Force he had the honor of marching in the 49th Statehood Day Parade in Fairbanks, Alaska. After being honorably discharged, he worked 36 years for AMP, Inc. in shipping, receiving and warehouse management.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Faye Pope McLain; his daughter, Debbie Powers (Danny); his grandchildren, Delaney Gore (Fletcher), Devan Powers, Dawson Powers (Tori), and McLain Dickey; his step-granddaughter, Leigha Nuss (Allen); his brother, John McLain (June); his nephew, Johnny McLain (Amy); and his son-in-law, Joel Dickey.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa McLain Dickey.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service. A service to honor Charles’ life will be held in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Curtis Jones officiating the service. Services will conclude at the Kenly Cemetery.
Charles loved his family deeply and enjoyed many visits from his grandchildren creating wonderful memories. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. He liked working in his yard and could often be found either mowing or riding his tractor.
