Foundation of WCC Announces Spring Arts and Humanities Series

 The Foundation of Wayne Community College has announced its spring Arts and Humanities lectures set for each Monday in March.

The lecture series will take place in Moffatt Auditorium located inside the Wayne Learning Center (the main building on WCC’s campus with the flag poles in front). Lectures include:

“The Devil at His Elbow: Alex Murdaugh and the Fall of a Southern Dynasty” lecture by Valerie Bauerlein – Mar. 3 at 5:30 p.m.

“Walking the Portuguese Way: Our Journey on the Camino de Santiago” lecture by Jennifer and Kevin Johnson – Mar. 10 at 5:30 p.m. (Faculty Spotlight Lecture)

“Voicing the Ongoing Fight for Freedom” lecture by Sonny Kelly – Mar. 17 at 5:30 p.m. (Keller Memorial Lecture and American Revolution Semiquincentennial Lecture)

“Gurus, Prophets, and the Problem of Charisma in American Politics” lecture by Molly Worthen – March 24 at 5:30 p.m. (Presented in partnership with Carolina Public Humanities)

“Can Humans Live Sustainably on Our Planet?” lecture by Jim White – March 31 at 2 p.m. (This lecture coincides with a climate change photography exhibit hosted by WCC and Carolina Public Humanities with support from the North Carolinian Society.)

All lectures are free and open to the public to attend. Recorded lectures can be viewed on the Foundation of WCC’s YouTube channel.

In addition to the lectures, the Foundation of WCC is also planning a day trip to New Bern on Tuesday, Apr. 22.

The trip includes lunch at Morgan’s Tavern, a tour of Tryon Palace and its gardens, and a visit to the North Carolina History Center.
