Dixie Loree Matson Anthony entered her heavenly home on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Surviving is her son, Robin Anthony (Kay) of Grantham, daughters, Georgene Capps (Donnie) of Princeton, Janeil Marak (Paul), and Michelle Davenport (Marty) both of Goldsboro, one brother, Dennis R. Matson (Nancy) of McCook, NE. Four sisters, Dolores Wood of Littleton, CO, Devona Sattler of Herndon, KS, Carolyn Wallace of Omaha, NE, and Vicki (Sue) Magee of Arvada, CO. 11 Grandchildren, Kevin Capps (Beth), Heath Capps (Melissa), Christopher Hatem (Karen), Cody Daniels (Laura), Heather Massengill (Joe), Paul Anthony (Annie), Amanda Lee (Charlie), Shayla Marak, Toree Marak, and Laine Marak and 20 Great-Grandchildren.
Mrs. Anthony was a native of Nebraska and born to the late Grace Lucille Fuqua Matson and the late Barton Rea Matson. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Neil Ray Anthony, infant daughter, Patricia Clapp, daughter, Gloria Daniels, grandson, Phillip Capps, brothers, Donald Matson, David Matson, and Sisters, Dorothy Scott and Beulah Gill.
She retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse where her passion was caring for post-partum mothers. She is still remembered by those she cared for. You could always find her reading, gardening, painting or spending time with family. The family’s Christmas trees are decorated with hand painted ornaments created with careful & loving thought that span almost 4 decades. Many walls are adorned with her paintings within the family and community. She especially enjoyed the 1st Monday Ladies Luncheons until her decline in health. She will be remembered in the hearts of her family as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Caregiver.
Funeral Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church in the Family Life Center, 220 N. Barden Street, Princeton, on Saturday, March 1st. Visitation will be from 2 – 3:30pm and a celebration of life will begin afterwards. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Stuart Coffman and Rev. Eugene Worley will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro 27534 in memory of Dixie Anthony. The family would like to thank the staff at Kitty Askins for the care they showed during her last few months.
