Cindy Mozingo Thigpen

February 22, 2025, 65, Goldsboro —

Cindy Mozingo Thigpen, 65, received her inheritance of life everlasting with her Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Cindy was born in Goldsboro, NC to the late Melvin J. and Ruth Hopewell Mozingo on November 25, 1959. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Talmage Thigpen, Jr.

With a spirit of determination, Cindy worked tirelessly as a registered nurse to be the best in her profession. Though challenging times presented themselves throughout her career, she was proud of her 27 years of service with Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Holding a strong faith in her Lord, Cindy’s faith was displayed most notably in her generosity toward others. Kindhearted to a fault, Cindy helped those in need without questions or judgment. For over twenty years, she was a devoted member of United in Christ Church. Attending as often as she was able, she was proud to be part of her church’s mission to reach the least, the last, and the lost.

Following her valiant fight with cancer, Cindy’s unbreakable will and a spirit of courage was displayed in her determination to remain with those she loved most. For Cindy, her life was worth living because of the time she spent with her daughter and best friend, Ginger, as well as all of her family. Perhaps there was no greater love for Cindy than that which she shared with her grandchildren, and that which they returned to their “Grammy”.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at United In Christ Church followed by a service to celebrate Cindy’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Pikeville Cemetery.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Thigie Thigpen; daughter, Ginger Thigpen Winter (James); grandchildren, Railee Winter, Kade Winter and Aerolynn Ferrante; brother, David Mozingo; and many cousins, friends and extended family she loved very much.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Cindy’s memory to United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
