February 27, 2025, 53, Kenly —
Ricky Allen Wells, 53, passed away peacefully at Wayne UNC Health Care on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Born in Wayne County on September 3, 1971 to Linda Wade Wilson and the late William Melvin Wells. In addition to his father, Ricky is preceded in death by his daughter, Erika Lynn Wells; paternal grandparents, Franklin and Lela Wells; maternal grandparents, Mark and Dorothy Wade; and two bonus dad’s, Billy Ray Pollock, and Adolph Oscar Walston
In addition to his mother, Ricky is survived by his sister, Peggy Collier; nieces, April Collier (James), Angel Grant (Jesse) and Brooklyn Henderson; bonus brothers, Randy Walston (Angela) and Scott Pollock; and mother of his child, Robin Pittman Perry (Marty).
Ricky was a man whose love for the simple joys of life was matched only by his unwavering passion for his favorite pastimes.
Ricky was an avid NASCAR fan, spending countless hours cheering for his favorite drivers, specifically Chase Elliot, and soaking in the excitement of every race. His love for sports didn’t stop there — he was a lifelong supporter of the UNC Tar Heels, proud of their victories and dedicated to following their journey. He also had a special place in his heart for the Dallas Cowboys, and you could always count on Ricky to passionately discuss every game, every play, and every season.
Outside of his love for sports, Ricky was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, often finding peace and contentment near the water, casting his line and sharing stories with those he loved. When he wasn’t on the water, you could find him at the grill, preparing delicious meals that brought family and friends together. Ricky had a special knack for making every meal an occasion, and his cooking was something to be cherished.
A memorial service to celebrate Ricky’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service with Pastor Dennis Pollock and Pastor Steven Gay presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The family request those attending to dress casual, and to wear any Dallas Cowboys gear if available.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kenly Funeral Service.
